2019 Update

Howdy folks!

Big changes here at Wisco Outfitters for 2019…I’ve taken a sales position with Dry Fly Sales, the midwest rep group for Simms, Scientific Anglers, Hatch Reels, and G. Loomis rods. Needless to say I’m super stoked about this opportunity, and excited to represent such amazing and respected brands.

With that said, much of the activity at Wisco Outfitters is on hold for now. I plan on posting some stories now and then in the blog here….and I’m still working on finding that great VW Camper van to rent out, so stay tuned there. For guided flyfishing trips in the area, reach out to Kyle Zempel at http://www.blackearthangling.com/ Kyle kicks ass, that’s all there is to say about that.

Hopefully the cold will break soon here, and we’ll get some great early season trout fishing in.

Cheers and tight lines!

Matt

Changes for 2018!

Hey folks, time flies..eh?

2017 Was a pretty good year, solid action despite strange weather...but being adaptable is what what makes flyfishing fun.  Personally I've had a big dry spell with steelhead (mostly because I haven't been fishing for them, d'oh) but finally grabbed a beautiful dime bright Brule steelhead on the swing in November, on short trip to the northwoods. Doesn't get much better than that...

2018 is going to see a few changes for Wisco Outfitters, the biggest one is bringing a rental Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia to the fleet.  Think airbnb, but for a camper van.  It will be available for week/weekend trips, all stocked and ready to camp. It will be a great platform for those coming into the area to use for exploring, or for locals that want to get out of town on an adventure. I've been diligently surfing classifieds around the country looking for the right van, and have a couple beauties lined up. Then it will be off to my brothers shop, Ben's VeeDub Shop for a thorough once over, then it will be ready to rent. Thinking April/May launch, but setting up reservations earlier. Stay tuned!

Also in 2018 I will be revising the price structure/goal of some of the guiding program. The biggest being free outings for beginners. Yes, free. A lot of beginners get started at a local shop or TU event, only to get the stoke burning..yet have no clue what to do in the next step. Wisco Outfitters wants to help. Think 1-4 hour lessons/trips/discussions tailored to what the specific new angler needs..on the water, at a local park, or even at your favorite watering hole. Want to drive around and check out fishing spots/access? Need help reading water? Need some casting tips? Want to learn rigging, or what gear you need? WO can help.  The goal is to get more new anglers on the water, get them fishing, and help them enjoy the sport.  Stay tuned for more detail on this as well...in the meantime email wiscooutfitters@gmail.com

Looking forward to 2018!

Matt
